I'm gonna quit lifting for awhile and consentrate on loosing some excess fat. I'm already big enough, i just wanna get cut now. u guys are the diet experts and mine just isnt cutting it anymore. You dont have to rush, I was thinking cutting my meals down to 4 or 5 per day and consuming 2-3 protein shakes and 1-2 whole food meals. Cutting my calories way back to under 1000 plus doing cardio 45-60 mins a day 4-5 times a week. Eating mainly chicken breast and salad everyday for my wholefoold meals. Any help is much appreciated...

The only way my fat ass can lose weight is too go very low carb high pro.I dropped my cals too much and I didnt lose shit.I raised my cals stopped the cardio and just started lifting .I lost 4 pounds this week.After the first few weeks my body adapted to the low carb and my strength seems to be decent enough

dont drop lifting, preserve what you got brotha. whats the point of losing weight if its gonna be muscle too. watch you macronutrient breakdown, right about now flax and some fish oil (EFA) can be your best friend, in dropping bodyfat. throw an e/c stack and you got something. Low carb will definately be the way to go, i take your somato type is endo dominent. Low carb is the best route for this somato. base the bulk of your carbohydrate intake around your activity level, for instance it would be pre weight training. start off your cardio gradually length and frequency, so when you do hit a plateau you can easily bump it up.

zeebs I would not quit lifting incorporate it into you fat loss program. move from one station to the next with fewer rest minutes. also do the cardio. f**k a salad. go with brocoli, something that is gonna make you feel like you ate something. 5-6 meals a day, whole foods for four of them and 2 protein drinks. Low fat Lower carbs but not completely gone. I quit liftin for a while and just did cardio for about a year. I got pretty damn small. It was fine for what I wanted then, but I dont think this is what you want. I would just change around what you are doing now and watch the results. you may be surprised what a little bit of time spent elsewhere in the gym will do for you. Oh and if you drink on a regular basis.. stoppit!!!

Zeebs, don't stop lifting. You can cut down your food intake but don't go too low or your metabolism will slow down. I got hurt in Nov. and haven't been lifting, I've kept my cal's low but have gained weight. Lifting regularly is the only thing that keeps my weight in check (of course combined with a good diet). I've been on this rollercoaster before and trust me, eating too little, while it may temporarilly result in a quick weight loss, will screw you up in the long run. Continue to eat frequently, just keep the meals reasonably light while keeping the carbs (complex, not simple) in the earlier part of the day, and switch up your routine to make cardio a priority (do it before lifting) then lift with a little less weight but higher reps and smaller breaks inbetween sets. Take a really good look at your diet and supplements, like YW said, get those EFA's in, they will even help keep your mental focus up when you're going low carb.

If diet is something difficult for you, start keeping a food journal. Include every single thing you put in your mouth (both liquid and solid). Fitday.com has a great program that you can use for calculating stuff. After you've logged for a week, take the time to sit down and break it all down on Fitday and you may be surprised at what you find. Also, a simple food scale would be useful to find your true portion sizes, if you think you're eating 6 ozs of chicken, stick it on the scale to be sure, they sell them in most supermarkets for about $7.

Make sure you're drinking pleanty of water, it really does help. Get 1 1/2 gallons in every day inbetween meals.

Got it big Z? If not hurt DON`t guit training. After tīwo weeks your muscles start to lose size and that I bet you donīt want( or who knows if really want to get smaller ...)that .
Two important things you get from weight training in this point; weight training burns calories plus you donīt lose muscle mass that much while dieting.
