Gastric Bypass Surgery

I saw a doctor today about some stomach problems I am having and he recommended Gastric Bypass Surgery.

I am 6'1" and weight 324 lbs bmi is 42 and body fat is around 40%, if not more

Has anyone had it done? Do you recommend something without surgery invoved. I tried many diets and my fellings for strength and power always win overweight loss.

You don't need a diet as much as a lifestyle change. I would be taking surgery as an absolute last resort. With 40% BF a few changes in your eating habits and some cardio you should be able to drop a substantial amount of weight.

Dito On What Access Said.... Just Do Your Research Before Diving Into Such A Big Surgery. There Are Alot Of Risks And Complications Associated With This Surgery. Good Luck, Please Consider Using This As A Last Resort.

Ususally over eating comes from deeper emotional issues. Family therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy teach people techniques to monitor and change their eating habits and the way they respond to stress. You should try therapy. I am certain no real doctor is going to let you get away with gatric bypass without dealing with your binge eating.

There are many diet and nutrition programs that could work for you. Have you ever took suppresants to starve off your hunger?

if you absolutely feel the need for surgery check into the Lap-Band. It's not as invasive, you don't get the side effects you do with gastric bypass. Lap Band is done with laperoscopy so you would have a faster recovery time and are less likely to get an infection. Gastric bypass they cut you open from sternum to abdoman.

Opt for the procedure only as a last resort.

Have you had your thyroid checked? If not do so.

I don't binge eat. I just make bad food choices.
I started cleaning my diet up.

I try and eat 6 times a day so I do not loose muscle.

I started a ckd diet.

That's all a great start and I wish you the best. Try and throw in a little cardio too. Maybe a walk around the block two or three nights to begin with and then ramp up from there.

I'm a powerlifter but I had surgery a few months ago and it is taking a while to rehab.
I started cardio 35 min 4x a week. tae bo! lol

What would be a good diet. I don't want to loose any muscle ?
