Default Dextrose??

Ok so i know a simple sugar should be taken after an intense workout..but im wondering

Is equal good? cause it has dextrose and maltodextrin together... I couldnt find just dextrose or maltodextrin in the grocery store

Does anyone have a suggestion on something as effective post workout??? or what i can use that has dextrose and maltodextrin in it..like ice cream, frosty, cookies, etc?

i asked in another forum..and a bunch of idiots replied so hopefully ppl in here know

Are you sure about equal? I was sure it contained phenylalanine, a non essential amino acid...well I looked it up it has aspartame, which is made by joining two amino acids together. It also contains dextrose and maltodextrin, so you were right too. It has low levels of the simple sugars though, they're included to improve the texture. I am afraid that ice cream, frosty, and cookies contain a hell of a lot of sucrose and other processed carbohydrates that you should really try to stay away from.
What I do is make sure to eat a meal with as much protein as possible within 90 minutes of my evening workout. Chicken breasts, lean pork, or fish with brown rice and green leafy veggies is usually involved. Egg whites may be the best protein source. The rice and veggies have enough carbs, including simple sugars, for my purposes. I have made a commitment to get all the nutrients I need by following a proper diet without supplements, it takes time, research, and work, not to mention the participation and support of my wife, but it's worth it to me. I learn more and improve almost week to week. Hope that helps...there are some others here who can give more specific advice about simple sugars I think, maybe they will give a better answer.
