Default Diet questions (pasta/eggs)

What good pastas are out there for packing on some pounds and why do most people eat the egg whites but not the whole egg?

Eggwhites contain ONLY protein. Yolks contain no protein, but a little cholesterol. Wow man. This is pretty basic stuff. Pasta???? Any pasta is good to pack on pounds, if you want the kind of weight that jiggles. Pasta contains NO protein. White (normal) pasta is essentially useless for bodybuilders. It will provide you with energy, but you might as well have whole grain pasta. (high in fibre) Pasta is definately not something I recommend to someone looking to lean up. (even whole grain pasta)

Protein builds muscles. Carbohydrates do NOT. Carbohydrates simply give you the energy you need to workout. Also, they will keep your metabolism in check. (But only if you are eating the RIGHT carbs)

Here is a piece of advice. Go to the closest book store, and buy a book called "The Abs Diet" It is great for beginners, and will tell you all about the foods you need to focus on and WHY. Also, it will tell you what foods to avoid and why. Also, it will convert you from a person that is seriously lacking in the 'nutritional information' department, into a person who will be confident in making his own meal choices.

I know my questions may make some people sigh and shake their heads but I have to ask. I am just your "average joe" here trying to turn things around for myself and get my physical health where it needs to be or atleast what I am happy with.

Thank you for the information and thanks Flirt for the newbie support... I have to start somewhere even if I make myself look like a fool.

I would imagine any pasta brand source is good... it's all in how you prepare it is what is actually more important. Also You dont have to limit your carbohydrate sources to just pastas while bulking... other good clean sources for you to include could be whole grain breads, potatoes (sweet & white) and oats.

Bodybuilders seeking to bulk up muscle are in particular need for fat in foods at a time when they have high-energy requirements for growth but limited appetites. Eggs contain cholesterol but it is generally accepted that dietary cholesterol does not raise blood cholesterol levels. Eggs are easily digested and absorbed and are extremely useful in ensuring a balanced diet for us bodybuilders.

Tell me Chiq as I assume you are a wee bit of an egg expert, I was under the impression that the yolk was made from roughly 1/2 protein and 1/2 fat plus the Vits and mins you described is that correct?

Hey Diagnosis, listen man. I apologize if my post was harsh. I certainly didn't mean for it to sound harsh if you took it that way. When I said 'this is basic stuff' what I am trying to say is that you really need to do some reading for yourself first. I am not saying don't ask questions. I am saying, you probably have a LOT of questions that you can answer for yourself just by reading.
Also, I was serious when I said you should buy 'the abs diet'. TRUST ME!!! it's great.

Martan something i didnt understand about your reply. you said yolks contain no protein. but it has about 2-3g for a large yolk. Also my pasta has 12g protein per 100g.
