I drink my about 40g protien in my shake on the car ride home after the workout, then about 1 hour later have a good meal. This is just my option but i've used a few diff protiens and I absolutely love nitro tech by muscle tech. I seem to gain alot more strenght, harder muscles, and just feel better. And it tastes good too. Oh I did read this study that said if you eat some simple carbs like 2 pieces of white bread right after your workout with your protien shake it helps spike insulin levels and get the protien into the muscles better. It sounds like a good theory i did it for a little while but have to get back into that again. This is what I usually do I don't know if it's overkill though, I'll take about 30g protien shake right before i go into gym. And i do 2 body parts per workout so inbetween body parts i'll take another 30g protien shake. Then right after i'll drink another 40g. Oh my workouts usually about 2 hours, so thats why I drink in the middle of the workout too. Thats just me though.

Well that was a long article LOL. I'm not sure about all the reasearch about deficiencies i was just stating that potassium will not stop cramps in that it could in fact worsen them. The thing is potassium is so vital to muscles including the heart the concentrations are very highly regulated. And you can throw them off but you'd need to take a high concentration. Heck when they give lethal injection it is potassium cause it stops the heart. you can do the same thing to yourself if you take a high enough concentration. And the article says sodium is toxic, well in fact sodium is essential also.
If you'd like I can try to explain exactly what potassium and sodium do in muscle cramps. I'm just saying potassium is not something you wanna fool around with in large supplement quantities. |
