Is it too late for me?

I am a 36 year old large guy. I am average to below average fitness and am sick of looking at myself in the mirror. I was talking to someone at work who use light doses of testosterone to help with his workouts and also just to combat fatigue etc. I thought i may check into it and see if there was anything to be gained by a prescription of test.
Anyway i got to work on the following monday and found out he was in the hospital with a heart attack. He did use some roids . Testosterone was one of them but he took something else. So i said no way will I ever try that stuff. Well i bumped into someone at work that knew abit more about what happened and it turned out that the doctor cleared the steroids of any blame. ALthough he was only 32 in decent shape, he had a very bad family history and all the issues of his heart were due to blockage.
So i was starting over in my search when one of the guys at work mentioned this site and i could find out all the answers I wanted here. Well what ive found so far is alot of confusion and alot of different kind of roids for a million different uses. I hear about cycles and what to dio when of cycle. I assume it depends on what you are cycling off of to determine what you take during that time.
What i have found out is that im not ready for anything yet. I think getting me started in a real training program and diet is the way to start. Then we can discuss things further down the road once I get myself into some sort of shape.
I am 36 i weight about 260 lbs and am 6 ft 3 inches tall. I need a starters diet and a beginners training regiment if someone would be so kind as to lay it out in blakc and white for me. Im tired of putting things off and I want to do something about it instead of complaining about how i feel. I know I'm asking for alot for a new guy but if someone could lay out a diet for me and a training regiment for "dummies", i would be very greatful. Thanks..

It's never too late unless your dead then the worms will take care of things.

First thing you need to do is post up exactly what you ate yesterday, when you ate it and what your workout routine is and when you do it during your day. That will help see what you need to do to get working on things.

Second go to the doctor and ask for a complete blood work incluiding lipid panel, thyroid, free and total testosterone. There are more things but just tell him what your issues are, cronic fatigue, excess body fat and whatever else is going on and tell him you'd like to know exactly where you stand health wise. They can prescribe test if you levels are 450 or below but most won't until your in the 200's. Your thyroid could also be low. Either way you need to know these things.

Thanks alot for that. Im like startiung from a background of never being a serious athlete at all but am willing to sacrifice and make drastic changes to turn my life around in regards to my health.

Thanks. I am gonna keep things updated on another thread. I am on day 4 of the plan that MP laid out for me and its more than doable. I am over the food cravings for the most part. By the time the day is over, im so sick of cooking and eating that i dont care to cheat anyway.
The workout is something else alltogether. I can barely walk lol. Today was deadlifts , squats and military press. I know things will get better but the weight was very low. Its all i can do to get out of my chair.
As high as my body fat is, i am expecting pretty quick results as long as i stay consistent. Next week when i have my legs back, i will begin the cardio. Im sure that will move things along much faster. As of now im doing good. I feel better by just cleaning the sugars out of the diet.
Ill post my progress in 2 week intervals so it doesnt get too annoying. I also got the wife to take before pictures. I cant wait till around the 8 week mark. I dont think anyone around me realizes that this isnt gonna be a lil diet program that i quit after a week or two. IM gonna show them and myself. Thanks again for this site
