need help starting from scratch

What’s up guys and girls! I haven’t been on here in a while I think last time I was on the site I was in Iraq during 2008 haha. But during my hiatus I stopped working out other than morning PT with the squad. I developed some bad habits like drinking...a lot and ate everything in site....i guess i was trying to make up for 15 months i was deployed.

Kinda let me self go a little bit as far as nutrition or lack of and have gained more body fat than I would like. I’m not 100% sure what my BF is right now but I’m willing to bet its right around 18 to 20 % which is high and I only weigh 150 (give or take a few pounds) right now at 5’6 inches 24 years old.

So my goal is for now to get my diet down. The problem is I don’t know what kind of diet I should be on. I do want to gain weight but do I need to cut my BF down first before I get on a bulk diet to avoid gaining excessive BF? Or is it ok to get on a clean bulk diet? What about supplement?

Ultimately I want get my body ready for my first cycle but I want to make sure I get my diet down first then after a few months (when ever I start to flat line in progression) or so of a good work out routine and proper dieting I can then start on the gear.

Once I know what type of diet I should be on I can start putting my meal plan together with the help of a few examples posted by members here. Thanks again guys!
