Aerobics vs. Cardio???

What do y'all think? I do aerobics instead of cardio. Are they equivalent or is one better than the other?

I personally do cardio everytime I go to the gym. But not hard cardio that I'm sure you guys are doing. I have to take it careful.

one is as good as another, depending on heart rate. Aerobics is just something that girls do in TIGHT spandex petitet...HAAAAAAA!!!! JK

I'd say which ever one you enjoy more is better.

Seriously - I believe the difference would only be the amount of intensity you use for one or the other. If you enjoy aerobics more than steady state cardio, you'll probably put more effort into it and get more out of it.

I'm definitely a cardio girl cuz "I" feel I benefit more from it. Really dont care much for aerobics...but I believe its your preference in which you enjoy or feel more satisfied with also.

aerobic simply means with oxygen, and describes the energy system suppliying the bulk of the energy. the term cardio represents cardiovascular (the system consisting of the heart and lungs). if i remember Ex Phys class, terms are used more so to descibe the length of time you can sustain. cardio is lower intensity and the theorey is that it will done for a longer period of time (longer duration more kcals burned) remember that was in theorey and is alittle outdated terminology and is often misused. the term cario typicaly is related to more of a performance aspect...if your mile time drops your deemed more cardiovascularly fit. it comes full circle because how do get more cardio vascularly fit...by donig exercise at intensities that allows the body to oxidize fat into energy. i guess what i was trying to get at, was cardio would term usd to descibe the exercise and aerobic would be the system the body uses the supply the energy to perform the cardio. sorry i got a liitle excited and started rambling
