McK...I hate the pill....haven't taken it since I was a teen and I don't think that I would go back on it. My periods are regular, just a lot heavier and WAY more hormonal... I am hoping it will all go back to normal after she is weaned.

I hear ya Voo...definitely not a big fan of the pill myself. I have always had heavy periods and now more moodiness but for me I feel it is getting worse with age....

I use T4 still. It's Levothyroxine. A tyroid supplement. AAP says it's "usually compatable with Breastfeeding."

As for the Prozac I was on a very low dose for about 5 months. It was the same mg an adolescent or senior might take. Nov to April. May have been SDD too, as I felt much better that spring. AAP says it is a drug that "effect on nursing infant is unknown but may be of concern." The Pediatric concerns were "colic, fussiness and crying". I don't know that I would have picked that drug if i had it to do over again..there are others now that work with less side affects.

Good info on drugs while breastfeeding is from Dr. Thomas Hale. I use his desk reference book all the time. 2004 is my latest. I think Dr Jack Newman has info on it too in his book..
