Question for the Mom's

Before I had my daughter I never used to PMS. Now, I am a raging *****. My poor poor family. I thought it was supposed to be better after you have a baby, not worse. It's getting to the point where I am annoying myself. Also, I used to only have cramps the day my period started. Now, they come the day before my period and last the whole F-ing time. Anyone else have a major change after childbirth?

FC can it be because I am still nursing?

Voo....have you had your followup visits with your OB/GYN? I dont remember if you had a vag or C-Section? but I would present these symptoms to your OB/GYN and see if further testing is needed, etc.

I'm not gonna say it will or wont get better....but I hope it does for you

You may not know how your body reacts to natural cycles Voo, due to years of being on birth control and light steriod use in the past. It's like when I go off...mood swings and such. Once my body finds that equilibrium it levels out to a nicer person. Your nursing can hold off your peroids till baby is about 6 months old. Your body is adjusting. You can talk to your Dr..I agree. Maybe a low dose mini pill may help.

Evening Primrose Oil may help some with the cramping. It does mine. I had 3 this year is all...yippie.

I finally started my period last week. It was awful. I was like a stuck pig (for lack of a better reference). I cramped really hard for the first few days and the damn thing lasted 7 days! You have to remember, all that stuff has been backed up for several months, so your first few might be pretty bad.

When did you start having it again? I didn't start until after I weaned him and it took a few weeks.

Btw, for me, my hormones seemed worse when nursing than when I was pregnant. I got little bumps all over my arms and legs and they're finally going away now that I quit breastfeeding. My dr. said that it was b/c of hormones.

This is the second period I have had since she has been born....
I am hoping it will all subside after I stop nursing. I was never hormonal like this and I hate it. I am worse now also, versus when I was prego.

although I am not a woman and cannot comment on the actual effects, I did notice my X-sister in law had some psychological problems after having her 3rd child. I cannot recall the name of the problem, but basically around the time of her period she would go into rages and literally attack her husban with a knife etc...

I think after about 18 months of therapy and some chinese/japanese herbs we got her, she got much better. She is more calm and relaxed now from what I can see; personally, I felt the husband was NOT helping enough with the kids and the stress and overwhelming duties and tasks is what got to her in the long run.

Mr X...wise of you to notice what it takes to raise children. Both parents.

I remember going through PPD, I had 2 babies nursing, called tandem nursing. DH worked near home and would come in and out 3-4 x day checking on us. I once nearly dropped my clothes at the door and walked down the rain soaked street nude. I thought it sounded like a great relaxing thing to do at 3 am. I cut my own hair and had thoughts of cutting out my tongue. I had developed burning mouth syndrome after dental work 2 months after my last baby. (Mercury poisoning?)

I ended up getting my thyroid checked and started treatment. I felt great with the help of T4 and Prozac. Mental Health told me to contact an LC or LLL Leader...I laughed, I was one. Let's say I coped till I had weaned them. It can happen to anyone of us women.

Voo.....after you have weaned lil peanut....have you taken into consideration a form of birth control? Will you take birth control pills to possibly help regulate the periods, etc.?

FC....did you use the T4 and Prozac after your last baby? and how long did you use it until you felt comfortable to discontinue it?

This is EXACTLY what happened to my girl. She gets extra sensitive around that time too, so I put a reminder on my cell phone right about that time of the month and am extra attentive for a few days.
Voo, it would help your guy out if you just explained the situation and that you can't correct it for awhile. If he is understanding, he'll just do what I do and pray to God you return to normal someday, lol.

I can't believe I am making menstruation comments now. Great...
