Unmotivated

I'm feeling depressed and unmotivated again. I was doing so well. Is this just Post Partum Depression rearing it's ugly head? My Dr. put me back on Prozac two weeks ago and it doesn't seem to be helping. What the heck is this hopeless feeling? I'm so fatigued lately. :crybaby I just want to curl up in bed, but everytime I look in the mirror, I'm horrified. Do y'all get like this sometimes? I haven't put any weight back on, but I feel stagnant in my progress.

Whats your plans for today? Get a plan! For some new mommas who left great jobs that were exciting it's boring being at home and playing with baby. Find something you and baby can do. Fit it in with your training.
Call other moms and go for a stroller walk.
Take baby to a moms and babies swim class.
Go out for lunch with a happy person and take baby.
Go shopping and take me with....I'll watch baby while you try on and see how much sexy clothing perks ya up.

Make that bed, get dressed, put on make up and get out Val!

Thanks FC. I'm going to go to the gym in a minute, that always helps. It's just a matter of getting there.

I think its just something going around because I haven't been able to train more than once a week for the past 6 months because I just plain old don't have the motivation

It's very normal after working full time to suddenly be home w/ baby to feel down...it's lonely sometimes...long hours w/ just an infant to interact with....check your local Y or your local paper for Mommy groups, sometimes they have mommy n baby groups, exercise classes etc....may be a good way for you to meet other moms' w/ babies...get out of the house and be active...

Val I think once you get back into the groove of going to the gym you'll be fine...that's usually the hardest thing....

I can relate and I've not had a baby....I spent the winter feeling kinda down and like a big chunky Chub LOL.....

I'm in need of some sunshine, warmth and the sand between my toes....or a tongue LOL

You're right Cutie. I think it's being alone that's got me so down. It's tough b/c dh works 6 days a wk and is gone at least 12 hrs a day, except Sat. I need to pull myself up by the bootstraps and move forward. I've lost 8 lbs and am on the right track. I really want to compete in a Hawaiian Tropic contest again. There's one on July 5th, which I don't think sounds unreasonable to compete in. I need to lose about 12 more lbs to be where I was when I competed in prelims. It's mostly diet and my attitude. It's just so hard to get out of the rut alone.

You're not alone. My elder daughter had her first baby in early November, 2004, (making me and dw grandparents). Being a Mom is a fulfilling, but time-consuming, job. As usual, Felinecougar is right. Schedule your gym time and get back into it. Remember, your body is adjusting.
Best advice of the day: Do what dw and I did for our daughter and son-in-law: have your baby's grandparents take their grandchild for a one or two nights so you can take a long break - check into a hotel for a weekend or at least for a Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday. While there, get a massage.
:thumbsup I note too that the fact that you are now a mother will make your fitness achievements all the more awesome. Show 'em you can do it, and make 'em drool! Best of luck, Mom.
