First cycle of var

I have been training for several years and competing. I have been on strict on and off season diets for the entire time I have been training. I am long and lean and tend to get ribby and a little stringy when I compete. I have just started my first anavar cycle. I am female 5'7", current weight is 135#, last competed at 123.5#, four months ago. I plan on hitting a National level show this season and am headed into prep now (for a local show). I am on my 4th day of var at 5mg/day, taking 2 doses, one in the am and one in the pm. My trainers feel that I should move up to 7.5mg next week and then to 10mg where I think I will stay. I have read that staying on for entire prep is ok but am a little nervous. So far only mild headache and spacy for first 2 days and decreased appetite (seems to be coming back already, damn it). Has anyone had any experience with virilization effects while on anavar? I know that sides are low and that everyone has different experiences but trying to gather as much info as possible for obvious reasons. I will update my avi soon but just registered today. Hmm more info on my training...weights 4-5 days/wk, cardio at 7 sessions right now...diet spot on, cycling lo and high carb days...

Everyone is different when it comes to aas. Most women in general do fine with anavar, especially at the low doses you are using. I would just be sure and keep a log on how you do on it and so on, that way you have a reference for later.

How long have you been taking it and how long do you plain to run it?? You should start to feel fine after your body gets used to your doses. Just watch for the usually sides, and if you have any probs abandon your cycle immediately!!

Thanks This is my 4th day and I still have headaches off and on. Appetite is back to normal, was a little low for the first few days...was kinda hoping it would stay that way LOL. I am at 5mg/day right now, don't notice anything other than a bit spacy and the occasional headache. Will go up to 7.5mg on Tuesday. I am hoping the spacy feeling goes away. I am planning to run it 10 weeks if all goes well...not sure whether dropping it 2 weeks prior to a show is a good idea though...any thoughts?

I think since this is your first cycle I wouldn't take it 8 weeks, and se just how your do, being that close to a comp and not knowing exactly how your body is going to respond to the last week of comp prep, I wouldn't chance it myself. Its always a good idea to have a trial run sort of period, so you can see just how you respond. I don't think you'll have any probs, but everyone is different. I'd hate to see all the hard work and prep go to waste!! We all know how much work and dedication it takes to get ready for a show!!

I don't think I noticed what you compete in as far as what comp, BB, figure, that sort of thing?? This could make a small difference in if you should drop it or not.

I compete in figure so not AS worried as I would be if I were doing BB'ing. I tend to come in dry, lean and hard anyway...don't even drop water til the night before, never drop sodium. Sorry did you say DO take it 8 weeks and then go off for 4 before show? Not a bad idea. Then I could add it back in in the 6 weeks before the National show depending on how I respond when I drop it. I will need to preserve as much muscle mass during that 6 weeks as possible. It doesn't need post cycle recovery when I do drop it right? Thanks so much for getting back to me with your input. first off always remember time on = time off, very important, especially for us ladies. So your doing a show and then nationals, how far in between do you have?

Hmmm I did not know that, thanks again for more info. I have 6 weeks between regional and nationals. Maybe then best to do 6 weeks first run, go off for last 6 weeks of prep and then back on after the show for 6 weeks? How effective would that be? I am thinking not as effective for the cycle? Not sure what to do....

OK been on for 2 and a half weeks now and feel good. Have gradually increased to 10mg and so far so good. A couple of new pimples but nothing major thankfully. I have been prepping during this time and have definitely started to get leaner but weight has stayed fairly steady. Weighed in at 136# on Friday, I started at 135#, dropped to 134# and am now staying about 136#...diet is spot on, and so is cardio so no gain from cheating, which is a good thing. Clothes are getting bigger I don't notice much in the way of strength gains yet, I am hoping to within the next couple of weeks.

Will continue to check in and journal in case anyone is interested in reading about progress.
