I've had type 1 diabetes injecting 5-6 times a day for 15 years, I'm well aware of the effect of every unit of insulin that i inject. Obviously the side effects of injecting (for non-diabetic people) such as becoming diabetic, really isn't a problem for me! So I just wanted some advice of people who know how to use it best in terms of bodybuilding so I can turn to to an advantage on my part.
From what I have read, I think the best thing to do (and what I am currently doing) would be to inject as soon as I finish training, have my recovery drink (mainly simple sugars, maltodextrin/dextrose etc) then have my dinner about an hour after the injection. I inject 16 units for dinner usually, however with the recovery drink I up it to 20. I know I have approx an hour after injecting before the insulin brings my blood sugar levels down to where I'd go hypo, this seems to be working well however don't know if there is another way it could be more beneficial to me? Apart from this..to normal people, insulin seems like a hell of a risk for the benefits, each to their own I suppose! On another note, I'm doing my first cycle of gear in a couple of weeks, just a Dianabol only 6 week cycle, I'm pyramiding it 10mg/day for the first week, then 20mg for the second, 30mg for the third and back down. I know I could take more but I'm taking it slow and steady to be on the safe side, no OTT cycles for me! Anyway...my question is about Nolvadex. A lot of people say just take it on the day after your last pill, but others say to take during. I had planned on taking 20mg a day for the whole cycle as again, I hope/think, this is the safest thing to do. Do you think this is okay?? Cheers guys, and sorry for the long post! |

But why can't it help? Surely if it does for non-diabetic people it can for me too? I would have thought I'm in a pretty good position to try it out as I have a massive knowledge of it, after all, it's been my life for 15 years. I have read a hell of a lot about steroids which is why I'm starting off on just the Dbol, I haven't read as much about the slin (mainly cos a lot of it is irrelevant to me seeing as I already have diabetes and know the dangers if mis-used) and also a lot of what is written is not only irrelevant but of no use to me anyway because of this fact. I haven't found anywhere any information that relates to diabetics using it to their advantage, although possibly because there aren't that many that are interested in bodybuilding.

No offense bro, but if you've done enough research here, you'd know a d-bol only cycle is a waste. And as for the slin, you need it to survive, to do what non-diabetics bodies already do. It's kind of like how someone who has ADD/ADHD takes ritalin or adderall to calm them down, wheras when someone without ADD/ADHD takes those drugs they get amped up. You're asking for trouble being a diabetic and messing around with your slin. The risks really aren't worth it. Just use gear, slin is mainly used only by the experienced, and by those who no longer respond much to gear.

Yeah I know I could do more than just the dbol (was thinkin of adding deca for second cycle) but for first cycle I don't see the problem?? Surely it's better being slow an steady than doing too much. With me being diabetic I'm just being extra careful...if the dbol doesn't doo much, I'll try adding other stuff too. If everyone here thinks that dbol only is a waste of time..what would you all suggest?
Thaiboxa, yeah you're right about the slin, and I know it's only used by pro's/people who no longer respond etc, I was just curious to see if I could turn injectin into an advantage for me, I'm guessin by the lack of responses people don't think it's a great idea! I am still learning I don't pretend I know everything, it's a long and slow learning curve... |

Just add some test to the dbol and you will be good to go. If you just want to do a single compound then do just test but not just dbol and stretch it out to a minimum of 10 weeks (12 better still) rather than 6 so as to see some real benefits. I have to say also that playing with your insulin doseages is a recipe for possible disaster. I understand where your coming from but at the same time this should alert you even more to the risks associated with insulin as you have been around it for so long through neccessity. Tread very carefully here.

Thanks for the advice access, I'll have a look into the test. And yeah I know what insulin can do and the risks, which is why I'd never alter dosages to the extent that I couldn't control it. Reading some of the dosages that people take is scary, and actually I've read a few "guides" on injecting it on other sites and it's blatantly obvious they have no real grasp on the risks involved and just how dangerous it can be. Thanks for the help anyway.

john, another type 1 here. i've been t1 since ~1.5 years old, haven't remember a day in my life without injecting heh. i'm pretty into weight lifting myself and study physiology in spare time. i just signed up on the forum to post this post as it drew my attention... there are so few t1s who pursue bodybuilding, i feel like i am an anomaly sometimes. in my experience the ability for us to "abuse" insulin for gains in mass is very hard to take advantage of. we are much more sensitive to its effects and will more easily gain weight from the combination of over-eating and subsequentially injecting more insulin. this has to do with malfunctions not just in our insulin pathway, but also the directly-affected glucagon pathways. (glucagon burns fat) now, if you work out hard 6 times a week getting plenty of cardio to keep weight down, and eat extremely healthily - as in virtually no saturated fats, processed foods, fast foods, high fructose beverages, etc. - you might find yourself putting on more muscle than fat and that would be good. personally i haven't tried to do this to super-extreme levels like a professional bodybuilder would for example, but 8 meals a day means 8 doses of short acting novolog! i have found that when i eat too frequently i just gain weight, no matter what so i actually try to minimize my insulin use because i know that when i use it, i use it right. of course you also run risks of putting on too much weight and then having to take more insulin all the time and developing resistance over time. but i highly doubt this would happen unless you got up to ron coleman size and then decided you didn't want to be so big any more. i think that the most important thing is just to eat as healthy as possible all the time. not just on workout days or after you lift, because think about it: every time you take insulin it does the same thing physioloigcally. so shouldn't you strive to not just eat good post-WO, but all the time? so that you don't negate what good effects you get from say working out and then takine a heaping, healthy protein/carb meal with lots of insulin by eating junk on sunday and having it all go to fat mass. and anyways you could get by on a high-protein, low-carb diet and use less insulin (right, because protein requires less insulin to get into the cell as it is), and probably get greater strength gains than doing large doses of insulin with a mixed protein/carb diet. just a few things to think about =) i would also be very careful when using testosterone-enhancing products. they may have the effect of making you much more sensitive to insulin and thus your doses of 15-20 units (novolog? humalog?) might only need be 5 for a week or two. i have never done dbol, test or anything like that so i can't tell you anything except watch your shit like a hawk. |
