IGF-1, what IS it?

I've been seeing a lot of posts on IGF-1, but I have no idea what it is and what the benefits are (sorry, not too much experience with much but the old school gear). Can anyone give me some schooling?

Thank you Access. I actually did just that (after I posted) last night. Good stuff. I think this would be a good course for me. Just gotta get up on dosages, etc. now.
