Abscess from Subq Shots?

Hi guys - long time no speak.

Just a quick query for you. I have been shooting 2 i.u. Growth into the belly twice daily for the last 6 weeks and all was great until this week.
I pre load a slin pin so 5 shots per pin - and in the last couple of days I have developed hard lumps under several injection sites. Because I shoot twice daily I have 5 of these lumps.

They are red and a little hot but I am not feverish or anything. I do shoot quite quickly and also wonder have I not gone deep enough into the fat as I was shooting at about a 30 degree angle. also the first one to develop has seemed to disipate significantly.

So the question is... Are these abscess, boils, trauma in the injection site or just shooting too often in the same spot?

Is it a trip to the MD, wait and see or a hot bath? Any help gratefully appreciated!

if you haven´t this problem before and you keep doing the same, probably is because you shooting too often in the same place, but how exactly do you shot? are you rotating the area? because thats the best way. shoot one point, next shoot 2cm to the left(or right, but always at the same direction) then next shoot other 2cm. around the navel. and of course inject slowly, and dont massage the area.

If the affected area is hot and lumpy you might be introducing bacteria to the area. Usually the hot and red tint to an area like that means infection. I am not sure iif I read this right but it looks like you are using the same pin for 5 shots. Now if those shots are consecutive then it wouldn't be a problem but if you wait a couple hours before the next injection then bacteria has had a chance to settle on the needle thus introducing it to the inside of your body. There are many things that could be going wrong right now so you will just have figure these things out. Make sure to try and use a sterile technique when injecting.

Hey Mate, I rotate the area shot - to the extent that in fact I shot on my side for the first time rather than front belly for 2 of these shots - I was injecting fast though. Each of the areas has progressively improved with the redness almost gone on shots after 3 days. But small lumps remain - though they seem to be reducing.

Yup, am using 1 slin pin for 5 shots for convenience. As above re hot and red. have done the shots with perfect sterility (or as perfect as possible)

Another thing that can help you with cutting the risk of infection or from staph is to use betadine with your injection.

Rub the area several times with alcohol and then betadine. Your skin will get yellow from the betadine but when your done, you use alcohol to clean the betadine off. Betadine is what the hospital uses when you have surgery to kill the germs.
Even with the best of sterile practices you can still get an infection, but do your best to have the best clean practice before injections and use betadine and alcohol to cut the risk of bacteria.

I agree here, i am currently doing sub Q shots 2 times daily for my melatoninII and i use a new pin every time.. to risky man.. You can get a box of 100 for under 10 bucks man.. If you like to preload, just preload different pins.. hope this helps man.. peace
