Default Using insulin for no carb/ protein only shakes-meals

Hey Guys, I recently went to my Diabetic dietitian for training on a new insulin. She had asked me to bring a log of what I eat and glucose records. When she went through them she made the comment about how much protein I was using. She especially looked at the Protein shakes being so low in carbs verses my daily insulin intake.
She told me that Protein alone require a certain amount of insulin, A normally people do not use the amount I use but in my case it needed to be figured in. Now she didn't go into great detail but she said something like this: ( I can't remember word for word)

The first 50ish grams or 11ish oz of protein doesn't require insulin but after that it does. (I definatley will get more details from her on this)

My question is how much protein at one sitting can you handle normally?
Does this change while using Steroids and/or Insulin?
Can you use insulin on a high dosage of protein only shake? (50+, 100, 150, 200gm)
How much is to much protein?

I am on a keto diet and taking no insulin. Does an exuberant amount of protein turn to energy or stored.

That is interesting on the insulin.

Well the standard amount of protein the average person should intake in around 1 gram per pound of body weight. Dividing that up throughout your day is the best way to do it. Being steroids help with protein synthesis you should double that.

Here's my take on it. Say your 200 pounds and you consume all 200g of protein at one time. Obviously there will be other things like carbs in there that the body absorbs or processes better so it will do just that. Now our normal body function is going to rid the body of the waste created by what protein it did use as well as the carbs and fat it used. The way this is done is through a bowel movement so what protein you did not use will be flushed out.

So I would only consume 1.5 to 2 grams per pound of body weight per day spread out as much as possible. This allows your body a steady supply of protein and that is always best IMO.
