INGREDIENT 1
COMMON NAME: Trenbolone acetate
CHEMICAL NAME: 17-(acetyloxy)-estra-4,9,ll-trien-3-one,(17 beta)-
% BY WEIGHT: <= 100 %
CAS NUMBER: 10161-34-9
EXPOSURE LIMIT(S):
PHARMACIA & UPJOHN EXPOSURE LIMIT-TWA: 2.8 UG/M3
3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
PRIMARY ROUTE(S) OF EXPOSURE: Skin contact, eye contact, ingestion and inhalation.
EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE: Trenbolone acetate is a synthetically derived androgen and anabolic steroid. The primary target are reproductive organs. Overexposure to androgens may cause edema (water and salt retention), weight gain, acne, and muscular development due to nitrogen (or protein retention); the latter is of short term duration in normal males. Females may also experience virilizing side effects as manifested by facial hair, deepening of the voice, and menstrual irregularities. Effects of chronic overexposure in women include: male-pattern baldness, excessive body hair, prominent musculature and hypertrophy of the clitoris. Effects generally slowly subside on discontinuation of exposure. With prolonged overexposure in women, some effects may become irreversible. Chronic overexposure in males may lead to feminizing side effects, changes in libido and decreased spermatogenesis due to the inhibition of gonadotropin secretion and the metabolic conversion of

androgens to estrogens. Anabolic steroids may also cause changes in blood lipid patterns by decreasing high density lipoprotein levels. The effect of long-term administration on the development of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease is not known. Other effects include decreased glucose tolerance, apparent increased insulin resistance, and decreased production of thyroid hormones.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Hypertension due to salt and fluid retention.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes. Hold eyelids open to assure complete
contact with water.
SKIN: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. INHALATION: Remove from exposure. INGESTION: Contact a physician or poison control center.
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
FLASH POINT: Nonflammable.
LOWER EXPLOSION LIMIT (LEL): Not applicable.
UPPER EXPLOSION LIMIT (UEL): Not applicable.
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water, carbon dioxide, or dry chemical.
FIRE-FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full body protective equipment.
UNUSUAL FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARDS: As with all finely divided organic powders, it is advisable to eliminate explosion hazards by methods such as grounding mechanical equipment in contact with the material to prevent the buildup of static electricity, inerting the atmosphere or controlling dust levels.
HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED: Remove ignition sources; control the generation of dust/vapors; provide ventilation and respiratory, skin and eye protection to prevent overexposure. Keep out of drains; prevent entry to surface water, groundwater and soil. Vacuum (with HEPA-filtered and explosion-proof equipment) or scoop spilled material and place in container.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
PRECAUTIONS FOR HANDLING AND STORING: Avoid generating dust/vapors and contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. Store under refrigeration. Do not get in eyes, on skin or clothing. Avoid breathing dust or mist. Use adequate dust/vapor control.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Approved respirator or dust mask. VENTILATION: Local exhaust at point of manufacture or use. PROTECTIVE GLOVES: Rubber.

MOLECULAR WEIGHT: 312.4
ODOR: None
OPTICAL ROTATION: +36.8 degrees (C=0.37, methanol)
SOLUBILITY IN SOLVENTS: 330 mg/ml in ethyl acetate. Freely soluble in most
polar organic solvents. Sparingly soluble in hydrocarbons. SOLUBILITY IN WATER: Insoluble VAPOR DENSITY (air = 1): Negligible VAPOR PRESSURE: Negligible VOLATILITY: Negligible
10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
STABILITY: Stable.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Air.
INCOMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER MATERIALS: Acids or bases.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: None.
HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Does not occur.
11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
ACUTE STUDIES:
EYE IRRITATION (RABBIT): Minimally irritating.
SKIN IRRITATION (RABBIT): Non-irritating to intact or abraded skin.
SENSITIZATION: Not established.
INHALATION TOXICITY (RAT): Intratracheal instillation of the compound: LC50 >
25 mg/kg. OTHER STUDIES:
GENOTOXICITY: It is concluded, based on negative results from an extensive battery of tests, that trenbolone acetate is not genotoxic and does not act as an initiator of carcinogenesis {Ann Rech Vet 1991/22 (3); 257-262}.
REPRODUCTION/FERTILITY: Effects on reproductive function in rats have been observed. Changes in the concentration of sex hormones and histopathological abnormalities in reproductive organs were observed in male and female pigs fed with trenbolone acetate. The marginal no-effect level for this compound is approximately 2 micrograms/kg of body weight as established in the pig and monkey. Onset of puberty was delayed in beef heifers implanted with 300 mg of trenbolone acetate. There was also an increase in non-ovulatory estrous in the implanted cattle.
TERATOGENICITY: Although some androgens have been shown to cause
masculinization of the female fetus in animal studies, no evidence was found for a teratogenic potential of trenbolone in rats.
CARCINOGENICITY: Not listed as a carcinogen by IARC, NTP or OSHA. From the results of in vitro as well as in vivo genotoxicity assays, the joint FAO-WHO expert committee on food additives concluded that trenbolone acetate was not genotoxic and that the increased tumor incidence observed in long-term studies in mice and rats arose as a consequence of the hormonal

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
ENVIRONMENTAL FATE:
MOBILITY: This material has low solubility in water. Therefore, it is not
expected to be mobile and migrate to the aquatic compartment. As a solid
with no measurable vapor pressure and a melting point above 90 C, it is not
expected to enter the air. PERSISTENCE/DEGRADABILITY: Studies on steroid degradation by soil
microorganisms indicate that these compounds are readily biodegraded.
Other studies have shown that microbes similar to those found in activated
sludge are capable of biodegrading steroids completely. BIOACCUMULATIVE POTENTIAL: No information available. ABIOTIC POTENTIAL: In general, it has been shown that microbes similar to
those found in activated sludge are capable of biodegrading steroids and
are not inhibited by their presence. ECOTOXICITY: No information available.
13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Dispose of by incineration in accordance with applicable international, national, state, and/or local waste disposal regulations.
14. SHIPPING REGULATIONS
Not regulated for transportation by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), International Maritime Organization (IMO), or International Air Transport Association (IATA). May be subject to state and/or local transportation requirements.
