Females That Weight Train Will Get Big
Myth 5
The female fear of getting to big! Is it legit!
Muscle Vs Fat
There is a myth out there that prevents women from body building and it is the belief that ‘women who body build will gain weight’ by lifting heavy weights. Even worse the idea of training intensely is very alien to most women and is classified as being a male thing.
It is very important to note that most women do not have the testosterone (male hormone) to develop huge muscles. Even if they tried their utmost they would never develop muscles on the same scale as men.
The professional women bodybuilders that grace the pages of muscle magazines and ESPN are big for two reasons. The first being that they have abnormal levels of testosterone and secondly they are on anabolic steroids.
The only thing that can happen when a woman trains intensely is that she will become firmer and stronger than before and will certainly reduce her body fat levels. Any body that carries more muscle mass will always appear in shape, firmer and sexier than a body that is untrained and therefore carries more fat. Remember that muscle is denser than fat, therefore a pound of muscle is much smaller and more compact than a pound of fat. This essentially means that you could literally have the same bodyweight yet transform your physique if you replaced the fat with the muscle.
Contrary to what personal trainers preach (they have too or they would be out of business) there is a universal way to lose the fat. All you need to do is estimate how much body fat you carry at the moment and train accordingly. There is absolutely no need for a customized plan. The great part of this fact is that if it is not working you know you are doing something wrong –because results are almost instantaneous-this way you can adjust the frequency and intensity of the workouts, until you find the floodgates of growth.
And yet another fact that will dispel the ‘muscles make you big philosophy’
IT does not matter who you are, unless you are on steroids you can never (especially for women) gain enough muscle to enter a professional body building contest. You could win the lottery several times before that happened. The human body is a very sophisticated machine. Its primary function is to ensure survival. This has occurred due to millions of years of evolution. Its priority is not to build abnormal muscles. It simply will not allow itself to ‘grow such muscles’ making it impossible to naturally develop that kind of size. The body can get only so big then it begins to fight back. In the old days of evolution, the big built individual was less likely to survive because food was often scarce. Times have changed but the body stills ‘acts the same way.’ Since it takes more food to sustain muscle – survival became difficult.
That does not mean you can’t develop an excellent physique. For Men, a Stallone or Van Dame physique can be naturally obtained, and sometimes bigger; for women what you can achieve is without limit – but the point is, don’t think that you will get too muscular for your liking. Believe me very few people want to look like professional bodybuilders.
