Easy Low-Fat Lasagna
Ingredients
Cooking Spray
8 oz/227 g lean ground raw turkey or beef
1 can (15 oz/425 g) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (15 oz/425 g) tomato sauce
2-1/2 tsp/12.5 mL Italian Seasoning
1-1/2 tsp/7.5 mL Garlic Granules
1/2 tsp/2.5 mL Black Pepper —12 oz
7 oz/200 g uncooked lasagna noodles
2 cups/500 mL reduced-fat cottage cheese
3/4 cup/180 mL shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese
1-1/2 tbsp/25 mL Romano Pasta Topper
Cooking Directions
In nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, cook meat over medium heat for 3 minutes or until no longer pink; drain grease if necessary. Stir in tomatoes and next four ingredients. Spread one third of meat mixture onto bottom of 11 x 7-inch/28 x 18-cm baking dish. Arrange half the uncooked noodles over sauce. Spread with half the cottage cheese. Layer with another third of meat sauce, remaining noodles, cottage cheese and remainder of sauce. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F/190°C for 45 to 55 minutes, or until noodles are tender. Uncover and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and Pasta Topper. Bake, uncovered, for an additional 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand 10 minutes before serving to allow lasagna to firm up. Makes 8 servings.
