Leg Press vs Squats

bad knees as always and never done leg pressing for any amount of time..knees are just getting bad off and going to switch and be able to do stiff legged deads again post presses..i know mega im one of the biggest squat promoters there is but knees keeping me from parallel..not a true movement unless that is reached..dont ask me to name the rips or strains on both caps..haa..long list..just looking result wise and loss of overall body strength?..anyone else ever switch over for good?..will bring my hams and lower back up by being able to add the deads just wondering on mainly overall and thigh mass..16 year squatter and done..

My lower back has been just jacked for like 2 weeks, so last leg day I left squats out.. hit heavy hacksquats, extensions and a super heavy 20 rep burnout on the LP.. damn I haven't been sore in my legs like that in a looooong while.. I'd say still go heavy in the rack,(partials rep squats) to maintain lower back and over all mass and thickness in the quads and such.. and hit the hell out of the legpress...

I would say that Mega is right on with his advice, of partial squats and leg presses.

Yea I hear on that knee issue. Mine hurt like a tooth ache. Thats why I only compete 1 or 2 times per year. I want to make 1020 squat official then retire from competition. Ill never stop lifting. But the time comes when all has to stop the heavy squats.

yeah partials may help but i always bury em..just been gettin to me for the last couple of years..maintaining really on poundage..you having hip problems is why yates quit the regular squat and switched to smith squats and l presses..

bingo D..thats why my last comp was last aug in texas..ive torn both knees M and the left acl..years ago and at seperate times and not lifting but playing ball..back is fine..seems i can hold anyhting upright cause im tall and a better deader..course ive never been close to a k in the squat..im not the oldest i know and have good friends still in their 50's that crank it out heavier than me..still a bit stung with the bodybuilding bug i guess..i go heavy on everything but without progression on the squat i see no reason to focus so hard on them..besides when i watch yates push up 1300 in the l press it gets my blood flowing..can hang right with him in most lifts that ive seen him do or his claimed best like rows and inclines and easily shrugs and stiff legs , his calves i want..i do standing with over 1300 in the raises but at a stuck there as well..just an old habit im finally gonna have to break..16 or so years under the bar and even 6 years almost straight using 20 reppers with a bent buffalo bar..time for a change..

my bad on that one bro..i waited like 30 minutes and knocked out watching dumb and dumber bro..what time bro?..taking any advice..gonna use a low angle like yates to get a full deep movement..

never been bad off enough to take anything like that while lifting..been injured and just stayed away til i was ready to slowly build..ive actually squatted with just the bar to recup..if i cant do it without pain meds or such it just isnt worth it..had the same trouble for years with my left delt..i just rotate exersizes and thanking god its been years since any real problems..a few tweaks here and there but still able to over head smith or standing free with major weight..
