Default All done squattin!

As much as I hate to I have to stop sqautting. My knees have quit protesting and are refusing to work anymore <img src="http://www.massmonsters.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> I've tried everthing under the sun to ease the pain but the only thing left is to not do them anymore. It really sucks cause they are my favorite excersise (followed closely by deads) It has gotten to the point where I cant even do extentions without pain. Just a little history...its not joint pain its muscular. The muscles that run over the top of my kneecaps are stretched and elongated falling to the sides of the kneecap. Docs say there is nothing that can be done. The pain comes from just above my kneecaps and radiates to beind my knees.I need something to replace squats with any suggestions.....? My leg day looks like this

20 minutes stretching
squats
2 warmups sets at 225 10 to 15 reps
315 X 10
405 X 8
495 X 5 sometimes 6
405 X failure

Stretch

Hip sled
505 X 10
685 X 10
865 X 10
1000 X 10
685 X failure

Stretch

leg extentions
220 X 10

I gave up squatting as well because of knee problems. I know the leg extension sometimes bothers me too. I just use the leg press instead of Squats. I know it is a distant second, but I like to keep whatever knees I have left.

You could keep doing them just put them at the end of your workout and keep the reps a little higher...

I have been box squatting for awhile and have never even felt a bit of knee pain. I squat wide (inside a 48" power cage, toes pointed forward, sides of my feet against the inside of the cage). Oly squats used to hurt my knees so I do have a frame of reference. Try the rubber knee supports as well. If all else fails, trap bar deads can be substituted for squats.
