I'm lifting at a small deadlift meet in Indiana in a week & 1/2, so I pulled on the deadlift suit this morning & went for a heavy single. I warmed up to 415, put the suit on loosely for a single at 505, then cinched the suit up TIGHT and went for broke. My all-time best WAS 560 with a deadlift bar...........pulled 575 with a power bar today! <img src="http://www.anabolex.com/forums/images/smilies/banana.gif" alt="Banana" width="33" height="35"><!--graemlin::banana:-->
With any luck, and the deadlift bar, I figure 585-600 shouldn't be any issue. God I want to break the 600 barrier! Finn

Nice job, thats a lot of wt. do ever supplement you DL training with any cleans or high pulls? thats when my dl wt started to shot up, must have been the extra power.

Thanks guys. I tend to pull off of a 5" platform mainly & some lat work. I do pull using an Apollan's Axle for grip work. Never liked doing high/rack pulls, just doesn't feel right. I weigh about 263 right now, so I'll lift in the 275 class.

I'm 6'1". But I do pull sumo stance. The platform is one of the single best deadlift exercises out there, IMO. It forces you to have speed off of the floor. It is a ***** when you first try 'em, but after using the platform for a couple of months then switching back to the floor, OMG the weight feels EASY!

I just beat my PB in deadlifts the last week also, but it was just 545. Never tried one of those suit but maybe I should look into it. I’m just curious of what your workout looks like? I do deads about once a week. Alternating stiff-legged and traditional and some times sumo stance. 5 progressive sets until my max lift. What about you? Also when you mention the ‘platform’ are you meaning you do your lift with your feet elevated on a platform? I do this with my stiff-legged but only up to 405. sust251@keptprivate.com

To start with, yes I stand on the platform to pull. We used (4) 24" long pieces of 4x4 and (2) about 50" pieces of 2x6. I also throw in stiff legs from it, seems to make it more effective as the weight isn't making contact with the floor at the bottom of each rep.
After the meet I'll start posting some of the platforms workouts I do. A typical workout is something like: 145x3-5 the # of reps depends on how I feel that day. 235x3 325x3 415x3 435+ x3 Top set weight depends on how I feel & where I am at in my training cycle. Today's workout was: 145x3 With Inzer briefs on 235/325/415x1 Briefs 505x1 Briefs, loose suit, belt 575x1 Briefs, VERY TIGHT suit straps, belt. For normal training I use only the briefs. I honestly don't get any weight gains from them, they help to keep the hips in place. I currently squat & deadlift using a Frantz dbl canvas suit. Although I don't normally use my suit to dl, I do use it when squating over 500. It's really a safety issue when handling higher weights. Sorry about the ramble. Finn
