If you can do 16 non-stop reps with 315, then
a few choices: That is 16 with no rest pause, I could probably do maybe 5 more reps but when my back starts to arch/fatigue I will set it down. When I use rest pause it would probably be more like 22-24. I train DC style, so I only hit the lift every 1.5 weeks. 1) I should be asking you for advice instead and tell me what you deadlift. I don't even deadlift, unless I am deadlifting in between rest pause sets off the floor. I have never tried to max my deadlifts. I would guess maybe 400? No idea. I've always thought my back got plenty of work from heavy rows, sldl, and squats. Only advice I could give you would be to bring up your weakness, mine was my grip, which I solved with alternated grip and chalk :P 2) You're not squating heavy/hard enough and or low enough before the SLDLs. Which would pre-exhaust the lower back and Hams to an extent. I squat low, just do not squat on the same day as sldl -- too much back fatigue. Unless I am doing a 20 rep squat/sldl routine where I am doing a lot less frequency. I usually work my hams before quads. 3) You're bending at the knee a little too much, and doing regular deads as oppossed to StiffLegs. No bend. I think it would be more difficult to do 20 regular deads with the same weight, than 20 sldl. Then again, I have never tried. --- 8D~ |

..315x16 is pretty f-ing good. I'd say its a safe bet if you did dead you'd be pullin a lot more than 400. I'm pulling 500+ max and could barely get 3x5 with 265 tonight w SLDL. I do Squat first, but still I'm impressed with those number Bro.

it is good to lift heavy/intensly on a cutting diet. I did a 5x5 bench program while dieting (although not sure why I did.lol). I put a good 40lbs. on my bench and dropped bodyweight from 197-188 while off cycle. This was about 2 years ago now, and I was 21 at that time, so age played a factor. Just don't do a high volume, heavy weight workout. Keep it very simple, with compound movements. Healthy fats a couple hours before you workout will help too. |
