German strength straining 10x10 any body ever heard of it??

My buddy in highschool was tellin me about this german strength workout he was doin 10x10 on all lifts, the guys bench went from 220 to 280 in a little over a month. lots of freinds have tried it since and all had great gains. i havent had a chance because i usually have to lift by myself and this lift requires a spotter. anyway, does anyone know anything about this workout??

I think the routine is called german volume training (GVT). Testosterone.net (Biotest) has written a few articles on it. They have a variation of the 10 x 10 here: GVT

I personally have tried it and gotten fairly good results.

i used to use it also... but i dont suggest using it as an everyday thing... throw it in there to mix things up abit... i felt that i got easily overtrained on it... but then again.. maybe its just me..

I have tried it before ... many years ago. Lots of volume and you will definitely be fatigued afterwards. I agree this should be done only on occasion for a limited amount of time to work through plateaus.

10 sets of squats are a ***** but will make doing squats no big deal if you are one of those that hates doing them. Same thing goes for the supersquats program. Lots of hard squats definitely will toughen the mind and make squatting feel like everyday routine.

i have done it many times, it works if you do it right. the beginning wt for your 10x10 should be a wt you can do 20 reps with. the routine was originally printed in Muscle Media about 6 years ago. great prigram but expect to be sore, and dont think your going to be walking ok after those squats.

I got it off the supplement review a long time ago in like 97 or something and it gave me great results for about a month, but my gains tabled off pretty sharp, I guess I just got used to it, but what I liked is that I felt I could really good mind-muscle connection on that style of training and I would get huge leg pumps. I remember hitting the floor sometimes from almost fainting, lol.... def. worth trying for a little bit.

Again, I wouldnt use GVT any more than once in a while... You wil get wicked pumps, but there is no way your gonna keep up with the volume....

I tried it at one point - picked it up from an article Tom Venuto wrote. I used it while cutting with 15 second rest intervals, so I didn't gain strength (due to the sub maintenance kcals), but I also felt I didn't lose mass.

I'd use it lightly though.
