Here´s a variation of lateral raise I´ve learned and tried a few times too( not long though). Could be done either seated(perhaps even sitting on incl. bench) or standing. raise the dumbbels to the shoulder heigh as in normal lateral raise. Now here´s the trick, imagine the db´s are full of water and u want to empty them. In that up position turn your wrists so that the water can flow out ( thumbs as low as possible) .
Only wrists move so that your thumbs are way lower than your littlefingers. Now try to remain the wrists in that water pouring position through the whole movement and some serious good pain in the middle of delt should occur. Feels much more than the regular lateral raise. weights must be lighter though but the burn in the muscle is also much better....
this could be old news to many of u bros and sis but to me it´s brand new and I´d like to share the variation with u all. Try and tell if it works! I´m gonna give it a fair shot myself , no doubt.

Yeah, the movement is intended to put more focus on your posterior delts although there is still significant stress on your medial delts. Try this also with cables. From a low pulley with upper torso slightly bent forward, perform a lateral raise with the same principle (pinky up, thumb down). This makes a great rear delt lift. If you use the cable without an attachment, and just pull with the outer portion of your hand above the ball, it's easier to keep your hands in the proper position through the entire rep.

U could be so right Z.As i said I have only recently found this variation( from MM International or Flex) and i feel it so good in the middle part. If it happens to be more of a posterior move , nothing wrong by me. My posterior delts need seriously more mass too... anyway thank´s for the info + input.

Been doing this variation for years... however, stopped doing it as of late... haven't done DB work in a little while.

I've done these, but i like doing them on cables and different sets at different angles. You can change the angle of the cable and make a whole shoulder workout from these.

just had a great delt workout and did all laterals with this "drop the water"- mode. I´m deeply hooked on them althought the actual wrist position is somewhat awkward.... have to use dumbbels since our gym doesn´t have goodenough cables. Too bad it took me over 20 yrs to learn this variation ...
