Flies, proper form?

When you do dumbell flies for chest, or reverse flies for rear delts, do you keep your arms straight, or keep your forearms parallel?

When I was a beginner, I always did 'em straight-armed, but to me, doing 'em the parallellogram way better isolates the muscle being worked. It's also good for the ego 'cause you can go heavy.

Any thoughts?

I agree with you, parallell form is better than straight arm.

Absolutely, keeping your arms straight (locked out) on flies is just asking for joint problems, heavy or not.

Flyes for chest,slightly bent,less than 90 degrees.For rear delts,if you bend your arms and go heavy,you will be recruiting your rhomboids.I train all 3 heads of the shoulders as if the muscle were a "hinge",cause that's what it is.Those are small muscles that cannot move a lot of weight,and if you're using a lot.you're training something else.I'll say more about this in the near future,when I get some time.
