Deadlifting and skinned shins

I must be doing them correctly. My shins are all bloody. Right below my kneecap on each side I have no skin the size of a nickle. Man does it hurt. What do you guys do to prevent this. I am thinking that I might just have to use sweat pants when doing deads.

When the skin is already torn off ur pretty much screwed, but before I usually chalk my legs up a bit. This helps. Also, the bar you use is a lot it too. I use an eleiko bar and they aren't nearly as bad as the barbells for other stuff. Granted... eleiko bars are about a grand so... use what you have. Anyway, hope that helps.

I look at skinned shins as battle wounds. I welcome the blood, but it does tend to turn people off at my gym. I started using the "pussy pad". At least that's what I call it. It's a pad you wrap around the bar for squatting. That way when it comes up your leg, it's not cutting into you so much.
