one handed barbell rows?

My gym only has 120 lbs dumbs. I've grown out of them. Tried the one handed barbell rows and it was awkward. Just 2 handed from now on?

I always do barbell rows.... its the bench press or squat for your upper back....

one handed is more like the leg press or db press of you upper back....

if that makes sense...


you'll get much better gains from bb rows then db rows

I do the BB rows also, but I feel I got better growth from one handed.

Go for it, give it a month (4-5 back sessions), give yourself time to figure out if you like it.

Something else you could try is to alter the movement with the one handed DB row. Think of it a little more along the lines of a reverse flye than just a straight row, if that makes sense. It hits your back from a little different angle and you have to use less weight. Another thing you can try is to lay face down on an incline bench with a DB in each hand and do chest supported (Zorse rowes). That will change things up a bit and those 120's should be all you need for a while.

I like these. I find I get more isolation doing them on a cable rather than using DBs or a BB. Mostly because it's easier to do them with more control on a cable. It's not so much an Ego issue with free weights, I just get too hyped up when I start doing heavy sets (mainly with Squats, Deadlifts, and BB rows).
The downside is that I don't seem to be able to get the same rush/explosive energy that I get before trying a heavy BB row set. I'd say it's just another trade-off; better growth at a higher risk of injury with BB. However, if you're in it for the long run, and I am, I have chosen to avoid high risk(atleast for me) exercises.
