When do you change your routine??

I try to change up my routine often, but I find that some exercises work better than others. I'm not afraid to try new things because I won't be able to lift a lot doing them, but I find myself doing some of my favorite exercises time and time again. If I change my routine dramatically could there be a possible benefit that I am overlooking?

i change it up about every 8-10 weeks..i get bored

I will do different exercises every 3-4 workouts. I just throw different ones in there that I may not have done in a while.....but changing the order of your exercises will benefit you too. It keeps your body adapting and stimulates growth

well i always change up every week exercises that is but like 6 to 8 weeks on my routines..ill go from liht weights to powerlifting to just flat out nothing at all

When I've layed off for a long time, I start by doing total body 3-4x's a wk for two weeks and then upper/lower 4x's a wk for two weeks and finally split: chest, tris, abs/back, bi's, abs/ legs/ shoulders/ core/lower back. After 4 wks of the split, I change exercises and encorporate new ones every 2-3 weeks. I also do them in different orders but still working the larger muscle group first.

I do not lift heavy weights, I like to do moderate weight and alot of cardio. I was never into being bulky, not that there is anything wrong with that. I just like to stay ripped and in good cardio condition.

I have a repetoire of excersizes for each body part. I mix and match different things every week. You have to keep your body guessing what's coming up next. Some things get done every week, like deadlifts and squats. Everything else is just filler.

I have an A & B Routine that I use every other week. Every 6 weeks, I do what I call 'HELL WEEK' (20 rep at 1/2 of my Maximum from the previous routine A or B). I also, every couple of months, do "Heavy Week"....3 to 4 reps with as heavy as I can possibly go.

I would say that it's working well bro....


As for me, I usually rotate excercises weekly with squats, deadlifts and a form of bench as a constant. Every 6-8 weeks I vary my rep range and or tempo.
