Default Training Q's

I am interested in what people think about my routine and a possible change to it. I know this site is mainly body building so I will assume most everyone is similar to myself in training. I am working out 5 days a week. Mon-back, Tues-chest, Wed- shoulders, traps, thursday- legs, friday- arms. I also do cardio mon,wed, and fri, with abs on the same days. My cardio is about 30-35 minutes of moderate intensity. Would it be better for me to be lifting weights 3 days a week and just doing more intense cardio on the other days. I am not interested in losing size so I feel like If I am cutting out lifting for 2 days a week that's whats going to happen. Any thoughts or possible ideas for a new lifting schedule.

I pretty much am on the same routine as you as far as weight training. I don't do cardio. When I feel like losing fat, I just go on a diet and keep my training as close to regular as possible.

same. I gave up on cardio. But diet is changed.



This is your routine...
Mon-back, cardio, abs
Tues-chest
Wed- shoulders, traps, cardio, abs
thursday- legs
friday- arms, cardio, abs

You been getting good gains off this?

I can only speak from past experience, but it was successful experience. I found that a moderate amount of cardio work actually enabled me to do heavier/better lifts, especially noticeable in squats and lunges. When heart and lungs are ship-shape, the muscles can handle a bit more work.

But now here is an interesting thing that I've noticed through the years, and wonder if there might be some validity to my theory. Has anyone else noticed this? I have a few friends who are really cardio freakos, i.e. marathoners, cardio queens, lah, lah, lah. "Gee, how much cardio do you do each week?"

"Eight hours." I know that cancer sometimes just happens, but also notice that many cardio freaks are all getting cancer in their 30's and 40's.

agree w Tarzana fully. Right now Iīm going like 4-5 weight workouts and 4-5 cardío ( drylands for winter hockey , sprints , jumping , cycling intervals etc.) a week. I fully recommend cardio for the sake of it does for yor lungs and heart. No matter how heavy or hard the set is I do in any given movement , itīs few deep breaths and Iīm ready to do another one. Of course the muscles arenīt that quick to recover , but it helps a lot lungs and heart donīt give up first.
I see no problem with two different kind of workouts a day . They go hand in hand. If I was 20 and trying to grow ( really) I might not do this , but for me this works well. One thing; Iīd do legs in between chest and delts. delts got a lot of work from chest so a rest day is needed for them. My split is otherwise like yours just legs on wed and delts on thursday....
