Shot some video of me deadlifting - critiques welcome

Okay, I've got a confession to make. I thought this was a joke thread.

I've read a bunch of deadlifting stuff and one thing that stuck out is something about how the best deads almost look like they were stiff legged. I hope I'm right.

Heck, you ARE doing stiff-legged deads, only you're taking them all the way to the floor. jjeb is right, sit your ass down and get some leg into it.

Anyway, I sat my ass down further this morning, a lot further. Working on "pulling back," and I'm driving through my heels.

I did change shoes this morning to something a lot flatter. It helped, and these are the shoes I normally wear for squatting and deads.

I did change shoes this morning to something a lot flatter. It helped, and these are the shoes I normally wear for squatting and deads.

honestly running shoes are the worst for squatting and deadlifting. personally i feel its better to lift without socks or shoes if you cant get some wrestling shoes or the old chuck taylors.

when you start to get into heavier weights you want it to be an explosion and to smash the weight off you shins basically. sounds stupid but it means your sitting back correctly.

I'm sure my gym would throw a royal shit fit if they saw me in there without shoes on, even if my ass stayed planted on the deadlift platform. Gotta get done paying for xmas before I can get new shoes for lifting. In the meantime, I have switched back to a shoe that I know is flatter.

i hear ya man. not everyone has the liberty to go out and buy new shoes or even have the flexibilty of a gym. my gym is very leint so its straight. when you do get a chance they are only 20 dollars and wrestling shoes you can get them as low as 30 or so. good luck with the deads bro

I'd just keep lifting at home but my weight set totally sucks, I'm just doing this until the semester starts next week. I don't have the cash nor the room for a home gym, I'll work on that one once I buy a house. Besides, I pay $70 or 75/semester for the university gym whether I use it or not.

I was going to order a set of chucks online once but I need to find them locally so I can be certain on the size. I don't think I have 2 pairs of shoes that are the same size. I'm a real pain in the ass to the sales reps when I go looking for shoes, cause the first thing I ask is for a shoe in a Wide size, then I'll ask for an XW, then I have to go up 1/2 size, then ask for a W in that size...I hate shoe shopping.

I used vans in the past, they're mostly flat. Workboots work well too.

Wrestling shoes work well also. I deadlift in a pair of otomix. Seems to work well. And sit your butt down. Other than that, looks fine.

personaly i don't rest the weither on the ground after each rep..and i don't lock out my knees....how wide is ur stance?
