Default training techniques/ shocking principle

THE SHOCKING PRINCIPLE:
the shocking principle is just what it says, a technique designed to shock the body & stimulate muscle tissue. the body is incredibly adaptable to reacuring stress & can adapt to heavy work loads that would wind an oxe. you can change certain aspects of your work out to acomplish a "shock" to the body. however, if your work out never changes & you always put the same stress on your body, it gets used to this.And as a result your progress stops , even w/ intense training. You can shock the body by changing the order of exercises in your routine, use heavier weight than normal, doing more reps , lower rest time between sets, doing new exercises etc. Even if your workout is executed with the same intensity CHANGE tends to shock the body.
Several times i have reached a point where progress came to a screaching hault. here are some changes i made that really shocked my body. My work outs are usually heavy weight with several sets to failure & 3-5 min's (5 being extreeme) rest between sets. works good for me usually. After progress stoped i switched to a "rest/pause " technique of training. This technique usually involves extreemly heavy weight (1-2 rep range) with 15- 60 seconds of rest between sets & more sets than usuall. I refined it to meet my personal needs. At my age that kind of weight takes it's toll on my joints. So i used a weight that i could get 4-5 reps, rest 30 sec's, 3 reps, rest ,2 reps, you get the picture. This was totally new to my body & yea, i got a shock.
Another method i used was HST. this basically involves a total body workout. (i wont go into detail). Again i refined this technique to meet my personal preferance. I switched it to upper body one day & lower body the next. You blast through your work out doing a few sets on each body part. I added warm ups because i need them. I used this as a maintenance phase in my training & then went back to my normal training . When i went back to my usuall routine my body was not acustumed to it anymore , and the results were pleasing.
