Default powerlifting/strength training

I have decided to take it up a notch in my training for adding strength of course. I have started a modified workout from the West side barbell club in Ohio and have ordered tapes of Louie Simmons' workouts and also some of his notes and documents from him. Anyone w/ any other suggestions or reliable sources that i could look to for further help??

basically you train in the big 3(bench, squat, and deadlift) twice a week. Day one is a lighter say around 65% of your max. You bench say 6 to 8 sets of 4 reps. Around 45 seconds in between each set. The goal of this day is to build form and speed. He usually uses bands or chains on this day. Explosiveness is the key word for day one. You lower the weight to the proper starting point and then you explode the weight back up. Day two is more heavy weight say 80-90% of your max. You would do around 8-12 sets of 1 rep and space about 30 seconds or so in between sets. On day two you always do assistance work though. Instead of bench you would do Incline bench, floor presses etc... Squats and deadlifts are replaced by Goodmornings, box squats, sumo deadlifts etc.. There is so much more. But on the same token i have so much more to learn myself. Hopefully when i view the tapes i will be more informed. Oh yeah this is derived from the Russians of the old soviet Union. They believed that it is better than the Western Routines because the Western constintly uses heavy weight. 90% or greater on all sets of all workouts. Simmons says that this can only be effective for very short amounts of time. He says that after 3 weeks or so that your body quits responding and your form gets worse.

Oh yeah there are many sites that can explain it better than i can. He also has his own site Westside barbell club. I don't know the addie but it can be found by using search engine

Most of the time if you show up to the gym, you can make significant gains. You need to modify your night life more than your training regiment.
