Fasted Cardio

Came across an interesting and well researched piece on another forum. The short version: fasted cardio does not burn any more fat than non-fasted cardio. So, instead of being miserable, it's ok to eat before cardio.

I would say this is one of the great debates of bodybuilding history - what kinda of cardio (HIIT or low intensity) and fasted or not?

The answer... don't know if there is one definitive answer. It seems that every credible study done on either side continues to yield similar results, at least from what I've read. I tend to believe what I see - and what I see is guys I know who do fasted cardio for low intensity drop lbs. in a hurry. I personally have been doing HIIT cardio for last two and a half months (usually 20-24 mins. on elliptical/cross-country trainer about 3 hours after eating in the evening) and dropped 30 lbs or so, but have hit a plateau recently. I'm going to switch it up and see if I can keep the losses coming.

I recommend doing what works - don't reinvent the wheel. I like SYL's article about the sprint intervals... some girl he talked to remembered how when she was younger she trained a certain way and was in the best shape of her life but was still asking what she could do to get back in that shape. Do what works...

You have to know what works best for your body, cause in the end - that's all that really matters.

I find doing cardio on an empty tank first thing in the morning is the best way for me to drop BF.

i believe both methods are effective, but depending on how your diet is set up.

I get very dizzy and bad headaches from doing cardio without enough carbs in me. I found about half a serving of oats an hour or so before doing cardio makes a big difference in my performance and recovery.
