Hammer Training

Okay, so I'm at this new Chiropracters office chatting with him as he's busy trying to fix my upper back, and he tells me about this hammer training he's doing. Seems he has an old tractor tire in his back yard that he goes out and whales on with a sledge hammer.

Any of you heard about this, and if so, any comments about it?

Yes, Lacy, thats it. The Dr. I'm seeing uses a much larger tractor tire, but I believe thats it. Instead of doing it for time, he hits it so many strikes from the left, so many from the right, and so on.

you know after reading a bit of that it seems to have the same theory behind it as kettle bell training.interesting I had never heard of it before.

Earlier this summer, I had a huge tree stump that I wanted to get out of my yard. So every day for a week, I set it on fire and let it burn (no easy task in itself). When the fire died down and the stump had cooled, I cut loose on it with an axe for about 30 minutes. I had taken about 2 months off from training and was actually getting a bit flabby. But after a week of doing this, I noticed a measurable decrease in fat and an increase in upper body musculature. I never put 2 and 2 together until I read this post.
