what do you bench?

I haven't done my 1rm in awhile. the last one i did i was at 355. I'll probably try in a week or two again and go for maybe 365.

i work out alone so i have no clue i work out with 3 plates so im going to guess 350

My max was about four months ago. I did 335, three times without a spot. I have been lifting lighter lately, but put up 315 twice four days ago. I hope to hit the 365 mark before the year is over.

hoochyo, my only advice if you want my .2 cents is take it slow and steady and listen to your body.

Not sure if you are aware of co-efficients or the epley equation: Take for instance, 315 x 5 (1.15) should net near 362.5 according to a co-efficient but, of course you'll still have to get use to lifting the heavier weights to max... Your 335 x 3 (1.08) is close to 361.8 lbs. (standard dev. +/- 5 lbs)


Epley Equation: Example

5 reps x .033 x 300 lbs = 49.5 + 300 = 349.5 lbs (projected) 1RM

Number of reps within reason... usually under 10-12 reps is more accurate...

my max bench was Nov of last yr while running Cyp/EQ/HGH/IGF and I hit 365 1X. Right now I`m repping 285 10X. I REALLY want that 405 (4wheels) but I really started to notice my shoulders aching a little more when i got to the heavier weights. I usually go 135 12X, 225 10X, 285 10X and then taper it back down at 225 6X and 135 burn out. Back in June of `02...before I started using anything...I was a scrawny little 170 pounder and I could barely bench 100lbs. 3sets of 8 with the quarters...struggling...lol.

Thanks for the advice bro. It is always appreciated. I don't usually go to heavy to often. Most of the time I only go up to 275 or if I'm feelin pumped I'll hit 295 about six or seven times. I only try maxin out every once in a while. I do totally agree with you about takin it slow and steady. I said I want to hit 365 by the end of the year, but that is only a wish. I know it will happen someday though.

I havent 1RM in a long time, but Tues a did 275x3 and that was after working up to it, about 5 sets total. I would be around 315-325 if I had to guess,

i dont usually max weight because im not a powerlifter and i dont care how much i can put up. lol id rather look like i can than actually be able to do it....but yesterday on flat bech i did 325 for 10 reps/4 sets...and then i went to my inclines did 225 my first 2 sets at 10-12 reps and then 315 for 8 reps, and then 405 for 1 rep......but i get mad cause this guy i was benching with was smaller than me by a lot and had way more b/f and put up 530lbs x1... fc*kin powerlifters lol crazy

that was after 3 years of crazy training, and not ripped, but really bulky.

one thing I want to mention here : the records are for power lifters . ego trip so to speak. remember that huge chest Arnold had in his heyday? mean it was unbelieveble! stood out from his upper body really ..... was he famous of using really heavy weights ? comparing to modern day champions no , but in his youth he did bench around 500 lbs . BUT once he matured he started using weights much more moderate and guess what his chest became even better!

another great chest man was Bertil Fox who was famous for his strength and huge chest. he did use heavy weights , but he did that for high reps .
