Question decline bench

does anyone else love the declined bench as much as i for chest or am i wasting time.. everytime i have to work out chest noone wants to do decline bench what gives

Decline is a excellent workout to bring you the lower lining of your chest. I prefer dumbells while doing incline, and decline. Pushups and chest dips are a few more excellent chest workouts. You are not wasting your time doing inclines. Most people don't like the postition, and or sudden blood flow to the head.

I dont like those too....but I admit that they are not a waste.

I use to love decline bench when I worked out at a gym. Can hit some decent numbers with the exercise. I will definitely settle for weighted parallel bar dips if no decline is available.

Also, I've always had a problem/weakness with my barbell incline bench??? But have always pushed decent dumbbells like 135's for reps??? I think it's more of a mental aspect for me... If I feel even the slightest twinge of pain not associated with sore muscles... I'll throw the towel in and try again another day.

Previously I've experienced 1-2 rotator cuff injuries and 1 pectoralis minor/major???? "big scare for me" Probably over trained at time... and every since then have really stayed away from lifting heavy on Incline barbell press. However, I've just recently started to add more weight to the Incline barbell in order to balance my chest some "Keep reminding myself>>>Slow and Steady..."

A regular upright dip will stress the lower chest, pecs major and tri's. Not bad either for the pec minor and delts. If you lean into them they hit the chest a little more than the tri's. All around great exercise!

You just need some parellel bars about shoulder width apart. There are tons of things around the gym you can use for this. I sometimes do them between two treadmills as an example. Then just lift your legs up and cross them behind you. Lower yourself down without going too low as this can stress a lot of joints. Just find a comfortable length to go down where you know your feeling it and then raise yourself straight back up. Don't go up and down too fast either. Get a nice fluid motion going. You can also add weight to belt for these when your strong enough. Excellent mass building exercise.

Dips are sometimes referred to as the "Upper body Squat" many lifters have built a huge and powerful chest by incorporating this exercise. You can hold dumbbells with your legs or use a dip belt to hold plates or dumbbells. Will definitely add thickness to your triceps and chest some delts. Remember not to bounce or drop to the bottom.

Read that Pat Casey (old time powerlifter) use to parallel bar dip I believe 380 plus his body weight for 1 rep which put his total weight over 600 lbs on dips; he was the first to bench 600 raw.
