how to work around tendonitis?

I had really bad tendonitis in my elbow and it stopped me from being able to bench and do dips, so i've been trying to work around that with cable excersies and dumb flys but it feels like I need more. Any tips on some other lifts I can do until its healed? have a feeling its going to take a long time, I still feel it when doing tri excersises.

your in the same boat as me....
except don't expect it to "heal" .

2 surgeries later, and mine is still flared up almost all the time.

Flys are your ticket.
i know that you will still feel like ya need more, but try different variations. Decline, incline, and flat.

I'm sure that you have tried anti-inflammatory medication...if not see a doctor. there are some things that may help your particular case. I have dealt with this scenario myself. It may not be what you want to hear but sometimes you just have to rest...take it easy for awhile! Therapy..Therapy!

go to the drug store and buy an arm brace for "tennis elbow" it looks kinda like a sweat band on ur arm from a distance but i used to ahve crippling tendonitis and i just use the brace everytime i work out and it has really done wonders for me

that is a really good idea, I work at CVS and can get the nice futuro ones for 20% off. will deffinetly look into them.

will those work for me though? my pain is on the upper part of the elbow not the bottom where you have tennis elbow.

I have tried a few of these...., but it does help some people. this one: (it is good for tennis elbow/tendinitis/lateral epicondilitis)
Band-It Elbow Brace for Fast Tennis Elbow Relief
is supposed to work the best. The gel filled ones and softer ones are the least effective, the harder plastic ones are the most effective. you want the brace to put pressure just below the spot that hurts the worst(I know its hard to do because it is so high on the top of the elbow) but the tendon that is connected to that part of the elbow runs down almost to the inner wrist near the thumb.the pain can eventually radiate all the way down, even when you are not using it...THAT hurts like hell, but that is what the proper brace can help you to avoid.
When it will help the most is if you are using a "weadeater" for a couple hours, or a chainsaw.

IMO, get the "band-it" and give it a try. If that one doesn't help, none of them will.
