Hammer Machines

I work out alone 99% of the time and was wondering what your opinions are on the hammer machines. I know that the free weights are best (bars, bells etc) but with no spot i dont feel comfortable trying for that last rep.

Yes, free weights are the best, but when you go solo you have to work with what you have. If you can push yourself more with the hammer machines then by all means, do it!

don't know of better option for solo training then hammer strength 'chine's. top shelf stuff in my opinion...

Well based on some research ive done, as well as personal experience. I dont think that going to failure is really essential for progress. Ive worked out alone many times and i still have great chest workouts doing 9 reps alone. When i know i couldve squeezed out one more with a partner, but didnt just to be safe.

Stopping one short of failure on a barbell or dumbell in my opinion will give you better results than going to failure on a machine. Its simply a better tool.

Also dumbells are safer than barbells if your really concerned. Cuz you could throw the dumbells away from your body if you fail at a rep, as opposed to a bar which is usually right on top of you in most exercises.

Btw i worked out alone in my garage for 2 years. So i know this scenario well.

i use hammer streinght a lot but when i go balls to the wall on barbells i hijack the power rack and set the safety bars to a decent level and put the bench in the middle of it. im big on dropsets and its the shit fot that when you ride solo

thanks for the opinions fellas........now working dumbells most of the time...like sup said just throw those *****es to side if ya cant finish

Hammer Strength is (in my opinion) the absolute best equipment out of all the different machine brands. I have not used ALL machines, but I have used many, and I just love the Hammer machines. Nothing beats free weights (obviously) but I truly thinik Hammer strength comes in a close 2nd place. I plan to buy the entire line of equipment when I open my own gym some day. (years from now)

Ive saved myself more than once doing that ^hehe.

You could always finish off your workouts on the hammer machines. Get the best of both worlds.
