Ok so ive been searching around on this question, and although i got alot of info, i havent found a clear definite answer so here go's.
Btw this question pertains to ppl working out to build muscle mass. For People who workout in the early morning, When they wake up. Isnt that bad in terms of muscle mass? since your most likely in a catabolic state? What do you eat/ take to get you in a anabolic state? Ive read some ppl just have some coffee and go. This however leaves you catabolic still Some ppl have a protein shake and a light breakfast, this seems like it would be bad too since your body would still be digesting it during your workout. Your stomach and muscles would be competing for blood, so neither would perform at peak levels. Best answer ive found is some ppl take in amino acids upon waking up, which quickly gets absorbed into the muscles. However is a few grams of aminos really sufficient to get you out of a catabolic state and fuel your intense workout? please discuss

This holds true for both steroid users and non-users alike.

An am workout is feasible if u consume some protien at least an hour before the work out and then warm up 5 mins on a stationary bike,for example, then u should be ready to go full force. Stretch b4 and immediately after workout.

I workout in the early morning and find that I am fresh and ready to go by the time I get to the gym. I first have a good breakfast, consisting of 5 boiled eggs and a small bowl of oatmeal. By the time I get ready for the gym and drive there and change in the locker room about an hour has passed which means I am no longer too full to workout yet have adequate protein and carbs in my body for an intense workout. I have made great progress with morning workouts over the years. Morning workouts are the most convenient time for me with my schedule. I don't think the time of day is the main priority but simply finding time to consistantly workout. No catabolic state for me!

Good stuff. Definately enlightened me. I had the idea that people would wake up eat something be at the gym in 10 min and workout with a full stomach. Ic that in reality its not like that. Some of you either take some aminos and eat a big meal after working out. Or have a breakfast but by the time you do your first rep adequate time has past for digestion.
