Clean and Press? anyone?

So i'd like to know your opinion on my favorite exercise of all time. The clean and press. For those who dont know. Its when you do a power clean, but instead of going back down, you press the weight up like a shoulder press, go back down, and repeat.

I love this exercise sooo much. It seems like im the only one who does it though..I never see anyone doing these in my gym. Or school gym.

This exercise is Brilliant for adding power and strength, and works extremely well for adding overall upperbody mass.

It works out: Upper back, middle back, Lats, Shoulders, traps, triceps, biceps, forearms, upper chest, and the core muscles.
Im pretty sure it expands the thorax, and shoulder girdle alittle, as ive notice my rib cage expanded some after incorperating this in my routine.

I'd even go so far as to say its right up there with dead lifts, and squats in terms of adding mass and strength.

So why dont i ever hear of this exercise being discussed anywere? What do you think? am i exagerating?

me and willy recently filled beer kegs up with cement and at the minute their weighing out at 75kg, 85, 95 kg and 102 i think and we clean and press those lol

Well then, if Im right in my theory of how those two beer kegs got empty. You two are gunna be really buff drunks. hehe

I do power cleans, I used to do the clean and jerk but I haven't in awhile. I like going for an olympic style clean sometimes but it takes alot of skill.

But anyways I agree, I'm just a little worried about my back so admittedly I've gone sorta light on the powercleans, and since I'm working out back and chest seperately and have felt physically exhausted as of late (last couple weeks, sleep problems) I haven't felt like working either area twice in a week.

Yea, actually good point thats one draw back to clean and press. If you go heavy theres alot of pressure on your spine. even more so than dead lifts or squats.

On a side note people who weren't lifters always looked at me funny when I said I did the clean and jerk. So I'd respond by saying "come on, its only natural"

me and my workout partner regularly do clean & press when on our kettlebell day. what a ***** of a workout and movement...

personally I love it. too bad I can't be doing it for a while untill the doc figures out whats going on w/ my right shoulder & bicep....

I've seen a nice thickness in my arms and traps w/ hang cleans. i saved the deadlift portion for back day & the press for shoulders when I went for bulk...but from time to time I'd go @ it full on. good stuff imo.
