One-arm overhead Barbell press

the One-arm overhead barbell press (for lack of a better label), a lift where you balance the barbell in one hand (by the center) bend to the side and press it over head. Its very rarely seen today, but supposedly was a highly recommended lift for building very practical strength (it really works balance/stabalizing ability as well). I haven't done em in years, but I was just thinking about them and am conflicted over how good they work considering it is hard to use heavy weights (I'm thinking its better for working balance and stabilization ability in the upper body opposed to building mas). What does everyone think?

Like all exercises with training and time you will use more weight and yes its a great exercise, I do them myself... great for core strength

Do you think I can replace my Overhead press with it? (my presses would then be Bench, One-Hand Overhead Barbell Press, Incline Bench).

I am a powerlifter so how it would effect my strength, mainly its inpact on the big three (although the only the bench would be effected, if anything, I think). Also would it still be very good for deltoid development or would it shift some emphasis (in comparison to the OHP) to the core?

Nick increasing your core strength will have drastic impacts on your lifts, that's guaranteed. I wouldn't necessarily replace your overhead press with these, I personally would just add them to your training, i.e. another exercise, do it last, because it's okay if your a little fatigued when you do these as with all exercises form is more important than weight. Doing these last will give you a great burn out for your delts, upper traps, triceps, etc. but will especially allow you to blast all your stabilizer muscles. I would throw it in as an additional exercise for burn out personally this is how I do them. Hope this helps.
