he looks quite agile and fast in his training vids tho, especially for his size... Don't think he'll ever be the best, but still, I wouldn't want to fight him

A lot of power and strength, decent technique(that takedown and mount was almost textbook)... I'm interested in his endurance tho... that will be key if he wants to roll with the big boys.

in japan (where K-1 is from), having pro wrestler as a start in a real martial arts promotion is a GOOD thing; in USA, it's a freaking joke (they just don't realize it)

Yea Brock has the college credentials and I have to say that it looked pretty cool watching the difference in him in MMA REALLY hitting someone and him faking it in Pro Wrestling!!!!! I bet that S.O.B can throw a helluva punch!!!!!

these monsters you guys are talking about, big and bulky...aren't going to do well in MMA ever...being bulky and thick is actually BAD in MMA

fedor has amazing genetics and is a technical freak. He doesn't need more power or size to help his fighting style. Same with most gracie's, although if they had more power they would be a lot better.

Not everyone is so lucky, including me. I need to depend on my power, size, endurance and my ability to read a match to win, I'm still lacking experience and technique. That someone like Sapp lasted so long in his fight against Minotauro means that size and limit strength without much skill is still one hell of an opponent opponent. On the street sapp might have actually won and killed minotauro with that piledriver.

if you lack exprience and technique, you only have power/edurance left....

what you should do is concentrate 100% of your time on technique and skill building; I stopped all weight training and replaced it with all natural exercises (chins/push ups/reverse push ups (from bridge)/crunches/superman and other balance exercises)...instead I spend the 1-2hrs/day I did on weights, doing MMA work. Boxing/Muay Thai/Judo/BJJ and GnP. I work a lot on clinching and throws, GnP...1 punch knockout and so on.

Also, I'm going to need to correct you. Fedor is NOT a genetic freak...in fact, genetically he sucks lol I know first hand. He needs to train up to 6-8hrs per day, HARD, to get to where he is.

I would like to work on my technique,especially ground, I only got someone to tap once in an official match, but that was purely because I was out of his league regarding strength.

But the problem is I can only train 3 times a week for 2 hours because my gym is only open that much. Plus plenty of the time is wasted on endurance exercises, which I already have. I've already told my trainer that I want to work solely on technique and sparring, but the other match athletes are less driven in their training than I am, so that not always an option. The sport just isn't that big here in Belgium. If you say, "find another gym", well, I tried, they are ALL like this, and this one is most close by.

I other words, I have to counter my lack of technique and experience(I'm only 22, only 1.5 year of mma, 3-4 years boxing and mt before) with pure power, strength and endurance. I like to do sapp-style bullrushes and overpower my opponents, because I know I have the endurance to keep it up, and most amateurs in my division don't. But if I fight against someone with more technical talent and skill, and can use it to counter my strength, I will almost always lose.

Luckely for me the latter almost never happens. Most of the time I lose is because of someone who's even stronger(most of the times steroid users) than me with less technique than me, because I fight in the open weight class.


So the only thing left for me is to keep training, and improve my strength and power as much as I can, with or without the use of steroids.

do you have kickboxing or muay thai gyms?

how about BJJ or Sambo gyms?

how about Judo?

what you can do is...instead of going to an MMA gym, go to seperate gyms to learn different styles (then combine when you fight)

You'll just need to work on GnP in private...

only thing that's wide-spread around my place is muay thai and judo. I've done muay thai for a while, my stand-up isn't really lacking. Plus the hours are about the same as mma.

And I don't like judo at all. I consider it way inferiour to bjj. I know some people swear by it, but I loathe it. I tried it for 2 lessons, and everytime I have someone in my guard, they considered me losing because I was on my back, so instead of keeping my guard I should try to get on top myself with every means possible.

Doing something like that will get me killed in mma.
