When I was a teenager I was in a sport called, “United Tae Kwon Do,” Which is Korean and I only knew up to the 3rd degree black belt pattern. That means I knew the 3 black belt patterns including the black belt patterns with stripes on the belt for each 3 belts, but I was a blue belt with stripes and was only one test away from becoming a first degree black belt. I have not made any commitments yet for any contracts in any Martial Arts sport. I thought about joining mixed martial arts which they teach you multiple Martial Arts and they have competitions in the ring.
I was told I would be better prepared to defend myself in a street fight with being taught in the Mixed Martial Arts. I also am interested in joining Ninjitsu Dojo. I had bought a Mixed Martial Arts book and it looks like Martial Arts combined with Wrestling. I also had bought a book and a DVD on Ninjitsu and that looks very similar to Tae Kwon Do except they also teach you how to break necks and how to use weapons. The weapons are something I’m not interested in, because I could only use them in my home and legally, and I could not have them on me on the streets or I could end up in jail and have them confiscated. I like the idea of me learning Ninjitsu, because it teaches how to kill if your life is in danger without the use of weapons. Now days in America where I live there is many people that can break in your home and will rob you and may put you and your family’s life in danger and take what you worked hard to own. O.K you may look at Martial Arts, Boxing, and wrestling as only a self defense and how can it be related to Body Building? Well Martial Arts, Boxing and Wrestling is a very intense cardiovascular sport that can burn every inch of fat including belly fat that you may have. If you can afford any of the three then you will lose every inch of fat on your body. If your a moderator and I had posted earlier in the wrong area then please delete it. I’m sort of worried about defending myself and my family, because my mom seen a man trying to break into our home and she screamed. There after the burglar ran away. There has been many break in's in my area and I have heard of horror stories and I can’t depend on a gun with a child in the home, so I need to use what is attached to my body, like my hands, feet, and mind which I carry with me where ever I go. I also want to join some form of Mixed Martial arts or Ninjitsu to get rid of body fat, because martial arts, boxing, and wrestling are all very intense workouts that may give me better results that doing sit ups and jogging 4 and a half miles every other day.
I eat 6 meals a day for body building, but the first place the weight goes is to my belly and eventually the added weight goes to the other parts of my body. you can disable someone pretty simply, no matter what size you are, kick the side of the knee with all your might, then blood-choke the shiz out of them till they pass out, then hit them on the head a few times to ensure the blood-flow doesn't regulate quickly, then call the police. If they start coming to, its really simple to just kick them around after that, their circulation is all screwed up for quite some time after these events, they will be weak.

the best self defense would be to get a Conceales Carry Permit, but i understand the safety concern for your son. IMO brazilian jujitsu and muay thai, are the best.
